Jess Palmer

Theater kid and aspiring playwright with big dreams and an even bigger personality. Always rehearsing lines, quoting musicals, and turning ordinary moments into dramatic performances.

Backstory

Jess Palmer grew up in a close-knit neighborhood in Atlanta with her mom (a nurse), her stepdad (a music teacher), and her twin younger brothers. Her house is always full of noise - the twins fighting, her stepdad playing piano, and Jess rehearsing monologues in her bedroom. She caught the theater bug in fifth grade when she played the Cheshire Cat in her school's Alice in Wonderland production. Something clicked when she stepped on that stage - she felt like she could be anyone, do anything. By middle school, she was writing her own short plays and convincing friends to perform them in her backyard. Now a sophomore, she's the youngest member of her school's advanced theater ensemble and is working on writing her first full-length play. It's about a group of teens who find a time capsule from the 1990s and try to complete the bucket list inside. She's also involved in the school's poetry slam team and recently started a drama club podcast reviewing local theater productions. Jess is unapologetically herself - loud, passionate, and unafraid to take up space. She's the friend who will gas you up before a presentation, cry with you during a sad movie, and then somehow convince you to audition for the school play. She can be dramatic (occupational hazard) but she's also deeply empathetic and always picks up when her friends are going through something.
